SIR JOHN FALSTAFF: has at last opened its doors again.The new owners are Kim and Terry and want you to make their pub, your local.
They are also doing very good food at fantastic prices - I've dined there so I know.
Most (traditional) lunches are £2.95 or £3.95, with evening meals around £6 or £7.
There is an upstairs (bookable) dining room where Sunday lunch is served and only £6.95, with starters or desserts being just £1.95.
With prices this good, it's cheaper to eat out !

THE CHARLTON CENTRE: in the High Street have all the shops under cover.

We have two new members to tell you about - Pilgrims Hospice and The First and Last Pub, along East Cliff in Dover.
PILGRIMS HOSPICE:
are the newest members of the Dover Loyalty Scheme and are hoping for your support to help raise funds so they can continue their work.
Pilgrims Hospices is an independent registered charity (293968) and the principal provider of specialist palliative care in east Kent.
They care for patients with a range of life limiting illnesses, including cancer, heart-failure, respiratory conditions and neurological diseases.
Care is provided from their three sites at Canterbury, Ashford and Thanet. Pilgrims Hospices provide a range of support services for patients, their families and carers and their attractive grounds and facilities provide a welcome retreat for both patients and visitors. To keep delivering care to those that need it the most, Pilgrims have to raise over £7.5 million each year. The majority of this comes from our local communities, so fundraising is very important.
How can you help ?
There are a number of ways in which you can help raise funds for the
Pilgrims Hospice:
1) THE LOTTERY
For £1.00 a week, you can win a share of the £4,000 of prizes in the weekly draws. As from the 4th. of April, the Lottery Prize structure will include a weekly rollover of £500, with a maximum prize of £20,000. You can check on the website to see if you’ve won, but you will be advised.
The Pilgrims Hospice Lottery has raised over £3.5 million towards the running costs of the 3 centres, so it is a very useful and necessary part of the Hospices fundraising.
2) DONATIONS: Straight forward donations to Pilgrims Hospice by cheque or donations in lieu of flowers
By Direct Debit or Standing Orders to the Hospice
3) Bequests, or Legacies in a will – many people will have had a relative or close friend spend their last few days or weeks in a Hospice and seen at first-hand, the quality of care they receive. What better way to ensure continuance of this service, than by leaving some (necessary) money via a legacy or bequest to Pilgrims Hospice ?
4) Collection Boxes – whenever you see a Pilgrims Hospice Collection Box in a shop, pub, café or restaurant – please, if you can, put your change from your purchase, in there.
5) Charity Shops – a great way to find good quality, second-hand clothes and other items and help raise much needed funds.

THE FIRST AND LAST Pub as its name suggests, is the first pub you’ll find, when you arrive in Dover and the last pub when you depart.
Sitting literally at the foot of the World-famous White Cliffs, it is very much a community pub welcoming all through its doors.
Come along for a drink and some friendly company, you’ll always find a warm welcome there; they have real ales, chilled lagers, choice of wines and of course the usual spirits.
At present they offer fresh rolls with a choice of fillings, but from the middle of April, they’ll be serving home-cooked lunch and evening meals – fresh, locally sourced, simple but good quality pub-grub for you to enjoy.

I must apologise to all the readers of the web-site, as well as of course, the advertisers themselves, but I have had a problem with this section of the site.
I will list again and briefly describe those businesses who have joined since September.
When I took over the Loyalty Scheme last October, I wrote to all the 13 original members, advising them what was going on and that they would be given continued membership until October this year. Sadly some of those 13 members decided that they didn't want to pay £3.00 per week to promote and market their business, so have left the scheme, otherwise we would have had over 60 members, which would have added to our strength and given me greater weight when arguing for change.
Never mind, onwards and upwards as they say.
